Danish Cup 2025
If you dont belive to find a report and result for Danish Cup after that weatherforecast, you will be surpriced.
We woke up to a dry morning with no wind, well there was a drift in the hight. Contestdirector Steffen and Jytte had placed the line very early and Thomas Weimar was the first to testfly directly into the birdtower. They made a quick change of starting place and was ready when we arrived at 06.30. Start of first round 07.15. It was a round with no thermal activity and most contestant was able to go high and glide the 180 sekunds, most going west. After 40 minutes all models where back, and Erik Niemierski surgested to start next round. Steffen called first round off and we started round 2. That ended up being the scheme of the day. All five rounds started as 1 hour round, but was called off after 45 minutes when all flyers was ready.
2. round proved to be the tricky one. No wind and I was happy to fly wake and only have to look at the circling manouvre. Not only the juniors Albert and Moritz Niemierski find it difficult to keep a glider high on the line with no wind from changing directions. We heard more questians about which direction to tow up against. At the same time the thermal began to distorp. It was not enough to launch high. My story is that I launched my wake to high and it had to come down to 30 m above us before it was in the thermal I was feeling on the ground, that saved the max. This time the model went east. Round 3 and 4 continued with no wind and week thermal, but now we where more ready. Retrieving was both north, east and south. 5. round proved to be the easy one, a more stabile wind from west and big thermal. All maxes most to the east.

If you preferre another wind direction, please move the streamer from the grass to the preferred position!

5. rounds finished at 11.20 with no stress. After yesterdays hard work it was very nice. Well maybe not everyone was satisfied when only 2 in F1B and 3 in F1A passed to the flyoff. F1A went first in a 3 minutes altimeter flyoff. Contestdirector Steffen chose the rigth moment to start it, just after a bobble has passed. Erik Niemierski tried to run with it, but didden't catched it and had to wait. Thomas Wiemar went first in the other end, but the speed wasen't right. Thomas Otte went together with Erik but in different position. Only Erik got the air and max and 2. win in a row, so no nead to wait for the altimeter readout.
Then Dag Edvard Larsen and Vegar Nereng again had to battle for it in F1B. They had placed there winding stoge far away from the line and made the journey together. That is also a way to spend 2 minutes of the working time. Dag went first with a very fine start. Vegar went short after with a very step climp where the model at first recovered flipping over, but late in the burst it did. Again it made a nice recovery and climp. From the speak betwen us with binocular i guess that Dag went direct in the bobble but later went out and was gliding from there. Vegar went lower out but got good air in the end of the flight and was climping up, but not enough to prevent Dag also from taking his second win this weekend with more hight that Vegar.
With contest director Steffen Jensens word from the briefing "I promised you better weather than yesterday", I will end this years report from Danish Cup.
We hope to see you all again next year and remember, never trust a danish weatherforecast, it is possible to fly in the middle of a low preasure.
